Getting started

How do I set up Minyma?

Install Minyma on your iPhone or iPad, choose a Minyma ID, complete device registration, and finish onboarding.

What is a Minyma ID, and why does it have a number?

Your Minyma ID is a name plus a number — for example quiet-harbor.4821. The name is what you choose; the number lets many people share the same name without clashing. You can enter your own number or let Minyma pick a random one, and availability is checked as you type during onboarding. Share your full Minyma ID — name and number — or your QR code so others can reach you. No phone number is required.

What if the same Minyma ID already exists?

If the account already exists on the relay, you may need to link from another signed-in device. If you no longer have another signed-in device, Minymata cannot recover that stranded Minyma ID for you, and you will need to create a new account with a new Minyma ID.

Minyma Voice and voice notes

How do I start or stop Minyma Voice?

Use the in-app voice control. If voice is turned off in Settings, Minyma stops active voice and hides product voice controls until the setting is enabled again.

What can I ask Minyma Voice to do?

You can ask it to compose a draft, open a chat, start a New Message sheet for contacts or a typed Minyma ID, start a New Group flow, search, open privacy or account settings, ask for current weather, hourly weather, tomorrow, seven-day forecasts, rain, umbrella, jacket, wind, or snow guidance, speak assistant replies in your selected voice language, pin or mute a chat, open local pickers, read Help, Terms, or Privacy Policy aloud, translate a current draft, or stage actions like sending and calling for confirmation.

Can Minyma Voice answer general questions?

Yes. Beyond app commands, Minyma Voice can answer everyday general-knowledge questions — facts, explanations, quick math, recommendations — keeping spoken answers brief. General answers come from the AI model and may occasionally contain mistakes, so double-check anything important. General conversation uses your voice minutes like any other session time, and app actions remain limited to the reviewed, allowlisted set — a spoken answer never changes anything in the app.

How does weather work with Minyma Voice?

Weather answers use Apple WeatherKit. Local weather asks for current location only when you request weather. If you name a city or place, Minyma uses that requested place instead of your current location.

Can I choose the language Minyma Voice speaks?

Yes. Open Settings > Voice > Voice Language. English is the default, and the picker includes a broad launch set such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, and more. For the exact current list, open Settings > Voice in the app. Automatic language switching is off unless Minyma adds a separate opt-in setting later.

How does translation work?

Draft translation uses the current composer text and shows a review step before replacing or appending. Translating a received message requires explicit consent before private message content is read.

How do encrypted voice notes work?

Record the voice note locally, preview it, then send it through the protected attachment path. Voice notes are designed to expire after first listen and are not automatically transcribed.

Everyday use

Where do I find everything shared in a chat?

Open the chat's Details and choose Media & Files. Every photo, video, and document shared in that conversation is listed there - swipe a row to Save, Forward, or remove it from your device, or tap to open it full screen. From the full-screen viewer you can also Forward, Save to Photos, or Delete without leaving the viewer. Saving to Photos uses an add-only permission: Minyma can add a photo to your library but can never read what's already in it.

How do disappearing messages work?

You can set messages to disappear automatically with timers from 30 seconds to 4 weeks. Set an app-wide default in Settings, or open a chat's Details to give that conversation its own timer - each thread can follow your default or override it. New messages in the thread use whichever timer is active when they are sent.

How does search work?

Searching your inbox returns matching chats and matching messages, with your search term highlighted in each result. Tapping a message result jumps straight to that exact bubble in the conversation. Search runs entirely on your device - your messages are never sent anywhere to be searched.

How do I manage a group?

In a group's Details, tap any member to message them directly, save them to your contacts, make them an admin, or remove them from the group (admin only). If you've collected old groups you no longer want on this device, Settings → Data & Storage → Forget All Groups clears them locally - leaving a group formally is still done from the group itself.

What does "Online now" mean, and can I turn it off?

"Online now" appears only while a person is actively using Minyma, and "last seen" reflects genuine app use - never background delivery to a sleeping device. Sharing your presence is optional: turn it off in Settings → Privacy and peers simply won't see it.

Security and trust

What does the app-lock PIN do?

It protects access to Minyma on the current device before the app can be opened.

What does the duress PIN do?

Entering the duress PIN immediately wipes Minyma on that device, back to a fresh install. When account deletion is enabled, the deletion request is signed and sent at the same moment and completes on any working connection - the wipe itself never waits for the network.

How do I know a device identity changed?

Minyma includes visible trust and review-needed surfaces so identity changes do not stay hidden.

Account recovery and deletion

What does Delete Account remove?

Uploaded ciphertext attachments are deleted from Minyma's servers under normal retention and account-deletion flows. Delete Account is intended to remove relay-held devices, queued delivery data, profile information, push tokens, and uploaded ciphertext attachments. It does not erase content already downloaded to other users' devices.

What does Reset Local Identity do?

It wipes Minyma on the current device and returns it to onboarding without automatically deleting the relay account. If the same Minyma ID still exists on the relay, using that same ID again may require a link token from another signed-in device. If you no longer have another signed-in device, you will need to create a new account with a new Minyma ID.

What if I wiped a device and cannot re-register?

If the same account still exists on the relay and you no longer have another signed-in device, Minymata cannot recover that lost or deleted Minyma ID for you. In that case, you will need to create a new account with a new Minyma ID.
