Minyma at a glance.
What: Minyma — a private messenger for iPhone and iPad: end-to-end encrypted messaging, groups, voice & video calls with call hold and call waiting, encrypted voice notes, encrypted polls, pins and reactions, file sharing, and Minyma Voice, an optional hands-free assistant in 20+ languages. Link previews are built privately on the sender's device; received messages translate on-device with the original kept.
Who: Designed, built, and operated by Minymata, Inc., an independent software company. The same team writes the code, runs the servers, and answers support.
Launched: July 25, 2026 on the App Store (iPhone and iPad). Latest release: 1.0.7 (September 2026) — conversations whose encryption falls out of step now repair themselves in the background, a message that could not be read during a repair is re-sent automatically once the repair completes, a typing indicator shows where a reply will land and becomes the message when it arrives, a restore keeps group conversations working from the first launch, one-to-one messages and their delivery and read receipts no longer carry a conversation identifier the relay could read, Read Receipts apply across your linked devices, and a phone you retire stays quiet.
Price: Free to download and message. Optional memberships (Starter $2.99 / Plus $7.99 / Pro $14.99 USD per month) add Minyma Voice minutes and larger file transfers. No ads, no tracking — the subscription is the business model.
Identity: No phone number required. Users connect with a Minyma ID or QR code — there is no searchable directory.
The story
Three angles, all true.
Post-quantum encryption, shipping today. Minyma protects message and attachment content with hybrid post-quantum end-to-end encryption: X25519 paired with ML-KEM-768 (FIPS 203) for key agreement — with fresh post-quantum key material mixed into every ratchet step — and Ed25519 paired with ML-DSA-65 (FIPS 204) for message authentication. Every post-quantum mechanism runs alongside a proven classical one. This addresses "harvest now, decrypt later": traffic recorded today can't be unlocked by a future quantum computer.
A voice assistant inside a private app. Minyma Voice is an optional, hands-free assistant — weather, translation, message drafting, app navigation, in more than 20 languages, with no wake phrase. It is off until the user turns it on, and it is honestly framed: replies use a cloud model, and encrypted messages are never used to train anything.
An independent team, end to end. Minyma is not a venture-scale product with a growth department. It is a complete messenger — crypto, calls, voice, servers, design, support — built and operated by an independent company, funded by subscriptions instead of data.
Technology
The stack, stated carefully.
End-to-end encryption for messages, attachments, and voice notes; AES-256-GCM for content; sealed-sender delivery for messages, receipts, and call signaling once a session exists. Hybrid PQXDH initial key agreement (X25519 ‖ ML-KEM-768) and a hybrid double ratchet with post-quantum forward secrecy. Hybrid identity authentication (Ed25519 ‖ ML-DSA-65), TOFU key pinning with safety numbers and QR verification. Device-level safety features: app lock, duress mode, device trust review, voice notes that expire after first listen. Keys are generated and stay on the user's device. Infrastructure is EU-based. Minyma is under continuous internal security testing across the app and the relay, and reserves "audited" for an independent security review; technical details are published in the white paper.
